Etymology[edit]

A vแน›ddhi derivation of the adjective *ฮธigraka-, itself from *ฮธigra- (โ€œgarlicโ€) + *ka- (hypocoristic suffix).[1]

Palatalisation during the derivation of *ฮธigraka- from ฮธฤigraฤiลก occurred on same pattern as during the derivations of ฤ€kaufaฤiyฤ- from *ฤ€kaufaka- and of Maฤiyฤ- from *Maka-.
