Etymology

From *yana (again), from Proto-Turkic *yan- (to return, turn back).[1]

Cognate with Old Turkic [script needed] (jana, again) (in Irk Bitig); Kazakh және (jäne, and); Kyrgyz жана (jana, again), Uzbek yana (again), Uyghur يانا (yana), يەنە (yene, again), Turkmen ýene (again), Turkish yine (again).
