From Proto-Finno-Permic *pisa-~*piśa- (to rain). Related to Erzya пиземе (piźeme, rain), Finnish pisara (drop).

Usage notes[edit]

According to Paasonen, the Mordvinic languages have a verb пиземс (piźems, to rain), calquing Russian where rain and snow is said "to go" is, however, very common, the verbs молемс (moľems) and тумс (tums) are used for this purpose.
