Borrowed from Russian би́ржа (bírža), Ukrainian бі́ржа (bírža). Compare Georgian ბირჟა (birža), Kazakh, Kyrgyz биржа (birja), Latvian birža, Lithuanian bìrža, Uzbek birja. Doublet of בערזע (berze).
Pronunciation[edit]
Noun[edit]
בירזשע • (birzhe) f, plural בירזשעס (birzhes)
Usage notes[edit]
- Note that unlike in English, Yiddish does not differentiate between the market and the physical place where the stock trading takes place.
