הִשְׁלִיךְ • (hishlíkh) third-singular masculine past (hif'il construction, passive counterpart הושלך / הֻשְׁלַךְ)

1. to throw, to hurl
   • Tanach, Exodus 4:3, with Young's Literal Translation:

     הַשְׁלִיכֵהוּ אַרְצָה

     hashlichéhu ártsa

     Cast it to the earth

2. to deduce, to conclude
   • 2002, לגדול עם הטלוויזיה: המסך הקטן בחייהם של ילדים ובני נוער ,דפנה למיש, p. 74:

     כללית, זמן צפייה גבוה יותר נמצא במתאם חיובי עם זמן בילוי משפחתי גבוה יותר. ניתן להשליך מקשר זה במיוחד לגבי ילדים ובני נוער, שהם מושא הדיון שלנו.

     k'lalít, z'man tzipiyá gavóah yotér nimtzá bemit'ám khiyuví 'im z'man bilúy mishpakhtí gavóah yotér. nitán l'hashlíkh mikshár ze bim'yukhád l'gabéi y'ladím uv'néy nó'ar, shehém musá hadiyún shelánu.

     In general, a higher [television-]watching time correlates positively with a higher familial recreation time. It is possible to conclude this link especially with regard to children and youngsters, who are the object of our discussion.

   • 2003, אותות 269, p. 16:

     זו בעיה שעוד לא הצלחנו לפתור. אבל אי אפשר להשליך מזה על חוסר אתיקה.

     zo be'ayá she'ód lo hitzlákhnu liftór. 'avál 'i 'efshár l'hashlíkh mizé 'al khóser 'étika.

     This is a problem which we have not yet been able to solve. But it is not possible to deduce from this a lack of ethics.

   • 2015, ביטול הכפייה הפסיכיאטרית בישראל, לוניה, p. 66:

     מנכונות של תאוריה אחת, לא ניתן להשליך על נכונותה של תאוריה אחרת.

     min'khonút shel te'óriya 'akhát, lo nitán l'hashlíkh 'al n'khonutáh shel te'óriya 'akhéret.

     From the correctness of one theory, it is not possible to conclude the correctness of a another theory.
