اِنْمَاعَ (inmāʕa) VII, non-past يَنْمَاعُ‎ (yanmāʕu)

  1. to get diluted, to get dissolved, to melt
    • 7th century CE, Ṣaḥīḥ al-Buḵāriyy, 29:11:
      سَمِعْتُ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللّٰهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ: ‏«لَا يَكِيدُ أَهْلَ الْمَدِينَةِ أَحَدٌ إِلَّا ٱنْمَاعَ كَمَا يَنْمَاعُ الْمِلْحُ فِي الْمَاءِ»‏.‏
      samiʕtu n-nabiyya ṣallā llāhu ʕalayhi wasallama yaqūlu: “lā yakīdu ʔahla l-madīnati ʔaḥadun ʔillā nmāʕa kamā yanmāʕu l-milḥu fī l-māʔi”.
      The Prophet (PBUH) says: There is no one who plots against Medina that is not dissolved like salt in water.
