From Byzantine Greek Σεβάστεια (Sebásteia), from Ancient Greek σεβαστή (sebastḗ, emperor's day) + -εια (-eia, -ia: forming place names), from Σεβαστός (Sebastós) used as a calque of Latin Augustus. Doublet of سابستيه.
