مُسْوَدّ (muswadd) (feminine مُسْوَدَّة (muswadda), masculine plural مُسْوَدُّونَ (muswaddūna), feminine plural مُسْوَدَّات (muswaddāt))

  2. blackened, looking black
  3. (construct with وجه) sad, sorrowful, gloomy
    أَتَانَا مُسْوَدَّ اَلْوَجْهِ بَعْدَ اَلْمُكَالَمَةِ فَظَنَنَّا أَنَّ عَمَلِيَّةَ صَدِيقِهِ الجِّرَاحَيَّةَ بَاءَتْ بِالْفَشَلِ
    ʔatānā muswadda l-wajhi baʕda l-mukālamati faẓanannā ʔanna ʕamaliyyata ṣadīqihi l-jirāḥayyata bāʔat bi-l-fašali
    He came to us [with] his face blackend after the call so we assumed that his friend's medical procedure has failed.
