Etymology[edit]

From Ancient Greek μαγγανικά (manganiká), probably through Aramaic, found as Jewish Babylonian Aramaic מנגניקון (mangānīqōn) and Classical Syriac ܡܰܢܓܳܢܺܝܩܳܐ (mangānīqā), clearly seen even in Ge'ez መንገኒቃ (mängäniḳa).
