Etymology[edit]

First attested in c. 1503 as Middle Hindi مُن٘ہ (mũh, indifferent), inherited from Sauraseni Prakrit 𑀫𑀼𑀳 (muha), 𑀫𑀼𑀖 (mugha), from Sanskrit मुख (múkha, mouth, face, visage). Compare Punjabi مُون٘ہہ (mūṉh).
