Etymology[edit]
From Akkadian 𒆳𒄄𒄷 (kurkû), from Sumerian 𒆳𒄄𒄷 (kur.gi4mušen). Also found as Arabic كُرْكِيّ (kurkiyy), an Aramaic borrowing.
