Inherited from Prakrit 𑀤𑀺𑀕𑁆𑀖 (diggha), from Sanskrit दीर्घ (dīrghá). Compare Sinhalese දිග (diga), දිගු (digu), දිඟු (diⁿgu), දිග් (dig), දික් (dik), Sindhi ڊِگهو (ḍigho) / डिघो, Assamese দীঘ (digh), দীঘল (dighol), Kalasha dríga.
