Inherited from Sauraseni Prakrit *𑀓𑀡𑁆𑀡𑀓𑁆𑀔𑀺 (*kaṇṇakkhi), from Sanskrit *कर्णाक्षि (karṇākṣi), from कर्ण (karṇa, “side, ear”) + अक्षि (akṣi, “eye, glance”)
