Etymology[edit]
Inherited from Sauraseni Prakrit 𑀓𑀓𑁆𑀔 (kakkha), from Sanskrit कक्ष (kákṣa), from Proto-Indo-Iranian *káćšas (“armpit”), from Proto-Indo-European *koḱs-o-s, from *koḱs- (“joint, corner”). Cognate with Nepali काख (kākh), Kashmiri کَژھ (kaċh), Assamese কাষ (kax), Bengali কাছ (kach), Magahi 𑂍𑂰𑂀𑂎, and Punjabi ਕੱਛ (kaccha). Doublet of कक्ष (kakṣ).
