Inherited from Sauraseni Prakrit 𑀙𑀼𑀝𑁆𑀝𑀤𑀺 (chuṭṭadi), from Sanskrit *क्षुट्यते (kṣuṭyate),[1][2] from *क्षुट् (kṣuṭ, to release, root); see क्षोट् (kṣoṭ, to throw, cast) for more.
