Borrowed from Malay Putrajaya, from putra (prince) +‎ jaya (success), ultimately from Sanskrit पुत्र (putrá)+ जय (jayá); named after the first Prime Minister of Malaysia, Tunku Abdul Rahman Putra. Compare Telugu పుత్రజయ (putrajaya).
