Inherited from Sauraseni Prakrit 𑀧𑀼𑀁𑀙 (puṃcha), from Sanskrit पुच्छ (púccha), from Proto-Indo-Iranian *púsćas, from Proto-Indo-European *puḱsos.[1] Cognate with Punjabi ਪੁੱਛ (puccha).
