Borrowed from Classical Persian فریاد (faryād, firyād). First attested as Old Marathi 𑘣𑘨𑘰𑘟𑘲 (pharādī). Compare Marathi फिर्याद (phiryād), Ahirani फिरयाद (phiryād), Hindustani فَرِیَادْ (fariyād) / फ़रियाद (fariyād).
