Borrowed from Arabic يَسُوع (yasūʕ), from Aramaic ישוע (yešú‘), from Hebrew ישוע (yešûa‘), a contracted form of יהושע (yəhôšua‘, Joshua). Doublet of यीशु (yīśu).
