Inherited from Sanskrit वेल्लन (vellana, shaking; rolling pin). Cognate with Assamese বেলুন (belun), Bengali বেলন (belon), Hindustani بیلن / बेलन (belan), Punjabi ویلنا / ਵੇਲਣਾ (velṇā), and Sindhi ويلَڻُ (velaṇu).
