Etymology[edit]

From Old Georgian აღდგომაჲ (aɣdgomay). The term originally meant 'to get up', however, the sense Easter developed from the fact, that "Christ got up (i.e. resurrected)". By surface analysis, აღ- (aɣ-) +‎ დგომა (dgoma).
