Georgian[edit]

Etymology[edit]

Klimov reconstructs Proto-Georgian-Zan *gza- (way, path), with Mingrelian ზა (za) and Laz გზა (gza) as cognates. J̌ahukyan derives all of these from a hypothetical Proto-Armenian *gez (way, path), from Proto-Indo-European *weǵʰ-. This is considered uncertain by Martirosyan.
