Etymology[edit]

Cognate with 急ぐ (isogu, to hurry, to rush).[1][2]

First attested in a text from 1212.[3]

Pronunciation[edit]

Adverb[edit]

いそいそ or イソイソ (isoiso

  1. [from 1212] cheerfully, eagerly, with alacrity

Usage notes[edit]

May optionally take the adverbial particle (to).[2][3][6][4][7]
