坂 (saka, “hill”) + 道 (michi, “path, way”). Compare Chinese 坡道 (pōdào)

- slope, incline, hill (path or road on a hill)
- 集落自体は駅から徒歩 20〜30 分ほど坂道を登れば姿を現す。
- Shūraku jitai wa eki kara toho nijū~sanjū pun hodo sakamichi o noboreba sugata o arawasu.
- From the station, if you climb the slope you can make out the village after about 20 or 30 minutes.
