Verbs where the ablaut vowel was followed by -w- in Proto-Indo-European.[edit]

The second class of Dutch strong verbs is the third largest. There are two variations of the paradigm:

/i/ - /oː/ - /oː/ - /oː/, for example bieden - bood - boden - geboden
/œʏ/ - /oː/ - /oː/ - /oː/, for example stuiven - stoof - stoven - gestoven
