Etymology[edit]

From Ancient Greek δίς (dís, twice, doubly) + πρωτο- (prōto-) (combination form of πρῶτος (prôtos, first), superlative of πρό (pró, before)) + ὀδών (odṓn, tooth) — "two front teeth".
