Borrowed from Hindi द्विवेदी (dvivedī), which is from Sanskrit द्विवेदिन् (dvivedin, “familiar with the two Vedas”); ultimately from द्वि (dvi, “two”) + वेद (veda, “knowledge; Veda”).
