Etymology[edit]
Coined by British economist and author Noreena Hertz in 2015. The K stands for Katniss Everdeen, a character in the young-adult novel The Hunger Games (2008).

- A demographic cohort identified in 2015, consisting of 13- to 20-year-olds who are relatively anxious, intent on being unique, and concerned about inequality.
