Etymology[edit]

Borrowed from Hindi गोपीनाथ (gopīnāth), from Sanskrit गोपीनाथ (gopīnātha, literally lord of the gopis), from गोपी (gopī, cowherdess, milkmaid, cowherd’s wife) + नाथ (nātha, protector, patron, lord).

  1. A form of the Hindu deity Krishna.
