Etymology[edit]
Old Eastern Finnish surname from Räsa- + -nen. The first part originate from a Karelian Orthodox form of Russian Гера́сим (Gerásim) (compare Рася (Rasja)),[1] or possibly in part from Middle Low German Rasecke (like the surnames Raasakka, Raaska).[2]
