Etymology[edit]
From either Latin trifolium (“trefoil, clover”), from tria (“three”) with folium (“leaf”), or alternatively from Ancient Greek τρίφυλλον (tríphullon, “clover”), from τρία (tría, “three”) with φύλλον (phúllon, “leaf”).
