From *ɸro- + *boud-.[1] Likely also suffixed with verbal noun suffix *-om.

Reconstruction notes[edit]
The neuter o-stem ending (and gender) are not evident from that of the descendants alone; no traces of being neuter remain in Goidelic. However, neuter gender in Proto-Celtic may be inferred on typological grounds; prefixed verbal nouns derived from roots of strong verbs are generally neuter o-stems.
