Unclear. Possibly from Proto-Indo-European *ǵʰewH- (to call, invoke), related to Proto-Slavic *zъvati (to call). Or from Proto-Indo-European *ǵʰeh₂w- (to gape, yawn), related to Lithuanian gomurỹs (palate).
