Another ref[edit]

See also Древнерусские понятия «горожанин», «гражанин», «гражданин». PUC09:18, 25 August 2020 (UTC)Reply

East Slavic descendants?[edit]

Both seem irregular, though. PUC09:18, 25 August 2020 (UTC)Reply

@PUC: I think the Ukrainian form is due to leveling with *-ěninъ. The Belarussian forms technically reflect *gordьčaninъ apparently from *gordьcь +‎ *-janinъ (compare Bulgarian родопчанин (rodopčanin, dweller of Rhodopa mountains), пловдивчанин (plovdivčanin, dweller of Plovdiv) for the same extended suffix). We could add them with a comment, though? Безименен (talk) 10:31, 25 August 2020 (UTC)Reply

*-in- in the plural[edit]

Shouldn't the *-in- be dropped in the plural, as is the case with *slověninъ? OosakaNoOusama (talk) 04:04, 15 May 2021 (UTC)Reply

@OosakaNoOusama yes, it should and inflect as consonant stem but {{sla-decl-noun}} doesn't handle such cases. —Игорь Тълкачь (talk) 15:24, 6 July 2021 (UTC)Reply
