Etymology[edit]

From Albanian Shkodër, from Illyrian *Skodra. When analyzing Skodra, it can be analyzed as *Skod-ra which would recall Proto-Indo-European *(s)ked- (to crush, scatter), possibly meaning "Crevice, Fork".
