I added this about a month ago with a citation. I just came back to it after I saw it as FWOTD (\o/), and I realized that the citation is from Hindī viśvakośa - meaning Hindi encyclopedia. The Wikipedia article also has the exact same intro -
- "तारेक्ष या तारक्षवेधयंत्र का पर्यायवाची अंग्रेजी शब्द ऐस्ट्रोलैब (Astrolabe) तथा संस्कृत शब्द 'यंत्रराज' है"
- Astrolabe or (another word for astrolabe) has synonymy with the English word "astrolabe" and the Sanskrit word "यंत्रराज".
However, I can't find any other actual uses. Is it citable or some protologism?

- Well, google books:"तारेक्ष" certainly doesn't look promising. @Aryamanarora, have you tried searching for inflected forms (like the plural)? —Μετάknowledgediscuss/deeds 03:08, 24 January 2016 (UTC)
- Just did - exactly zero results, even in regular search. It appears to be a neologism invented by Hindi Wikipedians. —Aryamanarora (मुझसे बात करो) 03:37, 24 January 2016 (UTC)
- @Aryamanarora: You can't trust Wikipedias for these sorts of things — they make up words all the time. I wonder what the real word is, though, since तारक्षवेधयंत्र (tārakṣavedhyantra) appears not to be citable either — quite probably just an adapted version of the English word astrolabe. —Μετάknowledgediscuss/deeds 19:32, 24 January 2016 (UTC)
- I don't know much about Sanskrit, but तारक्षवेधयंत्र (tārakṣavedhyantra) looks like Hindi तारा (tārā, “star”) + some Sanskrit root meaning sight + यंत्र (yantra, “machine, appliance”). I haven't had any luck finding the real word either. I'll be more careful fromm now on. —Aryamanarora (मुझसे बात करो) 19:35, 24 January 2016 (UTC)
