Temperature and/or spice?[edit]

@TAKASUGI Shinji, Eirikr: does this refer only to someone who can't handle high-temperature foods, or someone who can't handle spicy-hot foods, or indiscriminately to anyone who can't handle either/both? (I can find a few websites saying it can refer to either/both, but others saying it's only temperature.) I think it may be appropriate for Appendix:Terms considered difficult or impossible to translate into English. (I'm going through the list of candidates.) - -sche (discuss) 19:39, 9 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I'd learned it as referring to "hot (temperature)", not "hot (spicy)". Checking in my monolingual JA-JA dictionaries seems to confirm this, consistently using the term 熱い (atsui, hot (temperature)) and not 辛い (karai, hot (spicy)).
@Shinji, do you have any additional input? ‑‑ Eiríkr Útlendi │Tala við mig 21:45, 9 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
You are right. It only refers to temperature. — TAKASUGI Shinji (talk) 22:38, 9 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
