Definition of Huaren[edit]

I doubt many Chinese and otherwise would consider, say a Tibetan or Uyghur person of the PRC who has migrated (not fled) to another a country a Huaren or overseas Chinese? Say that Tibetan went to the States, she or he would be considered Tibetan-American, not Chinese-American? — This unsigned comment was added by 161.43.217.70 (talk).

I've added the word "ethnic". Are you happy now? --Anatoli T. (обсудить/вклад) 04:37, 4 December 2014 (UTC)Reply
Don't think ethnicity has to be part of the definition, but rather nationality. My C-C defines it as 取得所在国国籍的中国血统的人 - in other words, a Chinese national. Since Tibet and Xinjiang are part of China, 華人 can also apply to Tibetans and Uyghurs. ---> Tooironic (talk) 05:29, 4 December 2014 (UTC)Reply

@Mar vin kaiser Do you have a source for Sichuanese and Xiang? — justin(r)leung (t...) | c=› } 22:44, 1 December 2020 (UTC)Reply

@Justinrleung: Looking back, I think I only based it on the pronunciation of each character. --Mar vin kaiser (talk) 23:04, 1 December 2020 (UTC)Reply
