I assume Hebrew פיל and Aramaic פילא are descendants? (I think there's also an Arabic cognate, but I've never studied Arabic, so I'm not sure.) These pages, when they have etymology sections, tend to say unknown. If you're sure about this etymology, could you please update the list and fix all the etymologies? I can't say I do know - the etymology section came across from the older version of this page. It's expunded in detail on the Akkadian page here. I can't judge its accuracy - though the sample passage makes me a little suspiscious
