RFD discussion: February–March 2014[edit]

The following information has failed Wiktionary's deletion process.

It should not be re-entered without careful consideration.

There's an X number of borders, if we want to follow this line. In general, I would say that User:Pass a Method should hold their horses a bit. About ten of their recent creations have ended up on this and RFV page. --Hekaheka (talk) 11:33, 19 February 2014 (UTC)Reply

(Note that X here is a year.) The definition given ("A proposed border between the State of Palestine and Israel") is just wrong. I mean, it is a proposed border, but that's an encyclopedic fact about it: the definition should be "The border of Israel until the Six-Day War" (which took place in 1967). If (and cites will tell whether this is true) 1967 borders is used only with this sense (meaning "pre-1967 border") and not with the other obvious sense ("post-1967 border"), then I'd say it's not SOP, and keep. Otherwise, it is, and delete.—msh210 (talk) 15:44, 19 February 2014 (UTC)Reply
Delete. You can take any year that any country existed and say the "WXYZ borders" were the borders in year WXYZ. Yes, the 1967 borders seem to be a hot topic, but that does not mean they are dictionary worthy. --WikiTiki89 18:11, 19 February 2014 (UTC)Reply
By the way, I think the definition is wrong anyway. I don't think I've heard anyone use this to refer to any "proposed" borders, but only to the de facto borders (i.e. the armistice line). --WikiTiki89 21:26, 19 February 2014 (UTC)Reply
Delete these and the two below, and any others like them. They are SOP per Wikitiki89, and encyclopedic to boot. Starting with 1900, the following appear to be citable (all in SOP reference to the borders of one or more places in that particular year): 1910, 1911, 1912, 1913, 1914, 1916, 1917, 1918, 1919, 1920, 1922, 1923, 1926, 1927, 1931, 1932, 1933, 1934, 1936, 1937, 1938, 1939, 1940, 1941, 1943, 1944, 1945, 1947, 1948, 1949, 1950, 1954, 1956, ... and then I got bored and stopped. Along the way I noticed that numerous "[month] [year] borders" and even "[day] [month] [year] borders" exist. - -sche (discuss) 08:03, 20 February 2014 (UTC)Reply

1967 border[edit]

Added the heading now. My view is as above for 1967 borders.—msh210 (talk) 21:15, 19 February 2014 (UTC)Reply

1967 lines[edit]

Adding one more. JamesjiaoTC 21:30, 19 February 2014 (UTC)Reply

Why stop here? Also 1945 borders, 1776 borders, 1939 borders, 1914 borders, 1918 borders, etc. etc. are attestable? In accordance with WikiTiki, I vote delete for these and every other "WXYZ border(s)" combination. --Hekaheka (talk) 07:25, 20 February 2014 (UTC)Reply
