The term Old Dart is not confined to the Antipodes. I grew up in Kenya and it was in use there.
- I've seen an alternate etymology suggested: "The Old Dart" is a phonetic spelling for "The Old Dirt". It seems more likely than the given etymology to me. Yep, read this -- Derek Ross (talk) 06:16, 11 February 2013 (UTC)
- Sounds plausible. "Dart" for "dirt" sounds Irish to me- or at least like the exaggerated imitations one hears in stereotypical portrayals. Perhaps a variation on "the old sod" Chuck Entz (talk) 15:04, 11 February 2013 (UTC)

The definition is unclear, the sections are in the wrong order, and the entry is generally confusing. I tried to fix it a little by moving a description that was in the definition into a Usage Notes section, but it's still kind of funky. Also, there's a misplaced synonyms section.
