Noun class[edit]

  • What's the source for binamu being 5/6 noun class (and for the plural being "mabinamu")?? I'm admittedly not a native nor even a fluent speaker — but I've never heard mabinamu before. TUKI identifies binamu as 1/2 (or rather it says "a-/wa-"), like all other kinship terms, and virtually all other terms referring to people. CircleAdrian (talk) 03:59, 28 December 2020 (UTC)Reply

I see both binamu and mabinamu as the plural, so I'll add that to the entry. I think TUKI gives the noun class of agreement, whereas we give the morphological noun class; ours is more useful, because any noun referring to a person must take that agreement (so it's predictable), but plural formation (and agreement for the possessive pronouns) is based on the morphological assignment. —Μετάknowledgediscuss/deeds 06:28, 28 December 2020 (UTC)Reply
