Is this default term for hawk?[edit]

There are various Navajo terms for various species of hawks, but is the Cooper's hawk the normal/default hawk in Navajo land, and thus this term is the one used generically for any kind of hawk? 71.66.97.228 18:03, 12 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

No idea, Cooper’s hawk are found all over the U.S., especially the South and Southwest. The dzílí is the Cooper’s hawk and any hawk that looks like the Cooper’s hawk, biizhii is the western nighthawk, chʼiltaatʼagii is the marsh hawk, giníłbáhí is the western goshawk, ginítsoh is the desert sparrow hawk. Probably the most generic word for hawk is giní. —Stephen (Talk) 09:59, 10 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
