Rfv-sense for a physical thermometer, which was added by @Equinox from Webster. All I see on BGC refers to the sense I just added. —Μετάknowledgediscuss/deeds 21:47, 24 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

cited, although, in all but the 1800s quotes, I am not sure it is not the same thing as the geothermometer used for geothermometry, but with a different purpose. Kiwima (talk) 03:03, 26 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@Kiwima: The quotes that weren't from the 1800s were unambiguously referring to the first sense. So the obsolete label definitely needs to go on, but I also noticed that if you look at the context, all three cites refer to a specific device made a certain Magnus. What do you think about rewriting the def to reflect that (or has anyone used it to refer to other devices)? —Μετάknowledgediscuss/deeds 04:45, 26 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I suspected that might be the case, but the first definition, before you tweaked it, seemed to rule out the purpose it was put to. The reason all the cites from the 1800s refer to the device by Magnus is because once I found the first of them, I used his name as a search term to help me rule out all far more common cites that use the first definition. I did manage to find reference to another one by someone named Bertoloni, so I don't think it is unique to Magnus. Kiwima (talk) 04:52, 26 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
