Uncommon outside New England?[edit]

What is the source for the assertion that English "hamper" used for the container one puts laundry/dirty clothes in is uncommon outside of New England? As far as I knew, it was common across the US. Just looked at the inventory of such items at a nation-wide store (not in NE) to see if there is an alternative name that I was unaware of, and that is the only name that was used on every item. 65.74.127.179 02:29, 3 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
