Same etymology?[edit]
Surely the noun and verb senses are the same etymology.... the verb just has more detail? Maybe it needs less detail? How's it go into Icelandic??

Additional sense[edit]
Century has the sense "8. [< handle, n.] To furnish with a handle or handles; as, to handle a teacup." So far, the only citations I can find are:
- 1917, Leona Dalrymple, Kenny, page 226:
- "A man who wants to know if you must have a north light to paint by will think it a rule of the guild to double-handle teacups."
- 1971, Ceramics (volumes 22-23 / issues 263-274), page 8:

Maybe a type of beer glass[edit]
Heard in the pub last night: "can I have mine in a handle?". The customer wanted one of the old-fashioned glass tankards with "dimples" and a handle on the side, as opposed to the modern pint glass with no handle. Equinox ◑ 09:10, 20 December 2022 (UTC)
