Century has the sense "8. [< handle, n.] To furnish with a handle or handles; as, to handle a teacup." So far, the only citations I can find are:
- 1917, Leona Dalrymple, Kenny, page 226:
- "A man who wants to know if you must have a north light to paint by will think it a rule of the guild to double-handle teacups."
- 1971, Ceramics (volumes 22-23 / issues 263-274), page 8:
- After the raw materials have been finely ground and blunged the resulting clay bodies are stored in 15 tanks [...]. The automatic ramikin machine, which can also make and handle cups, and the plate dryer are by Netzsch.
