what'd[edit]

Rfv-senses "what would" and "what had". I don't believe I've ever heard what'd used for anything other than "what did". I don't really doubt that these forms exist, but it would be great if we had some cites. --WikiTiki89 02:58, 16 December 2013 (UTC)Reply

Added three citations for each sense. —Mr. Granger (talkcontribs) 03:22, 16 December 2013 (UTC)Reply
In "What'd the President think of ye?", it's unclear if it stands for "what did" or "what would". --WikiTiki89 03:28, 16 December 2013 (UTC)Reply
It seems like "what would" to me, based on context, but just to be sure, I've added two more (including the one Ungoliant pointed out below). —Mr. Granger (talkcontribs) 03:58, 16 December 2013 (UTC)Reply
Here’s a “What’d he have done?”. — Ungoliant (falai) 03:32, 16 December 2013 (UTC)Reply
Thank you very much guys. The sense are cited. --WikiTiki89 04:00, 16 December 2013 (UTC)Reply
I've never heard of what'd to mean 'what did'. Where is this used? Mglovesfun (talk) 17:11, 16 December 2013 (UTC)Reply
Everywhere as far as I know: What'd you do that for?, What'd he do to you?, etc. --WikiTiki89 17:21, 16 December 2013 (UTC)Reply
