Mishearing of zonae pellucidae / zonæ pellucidæ.  (u):Raifʻhār (t):Doremítzwr﴿ 18:50, 16 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Not necessarily. The ending "-e" came to be used for "-ae" in some medieval and later Latin texts, as the pronunciation had shifted. I'd call it a bastardization (but not on the page itself). --EncycloPetey 01:12, 17 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Whatever its cause, the form is extremely rare; amongst these 246 ostensibly English Google-Book-Search hits for "zone pellucide", I could find only one which is definitely English. Compare that with "zonae pellucidae" (656 hits). Zone pellucide may be valid in French, but in English it is a misspelling only.  (u):Raifʻhār (t):Doremítzwr﴿ 17:39, 18 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Delete as rare misspelling. (BTW, your only-one-which-is-definitely-English is actually misquoting a source that spells it correctly.) —RuakhTALK 19:53, 24 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
