Usage

This template may be used on Wiktionary entry pages to quote from a collection of John Keats' works entitled The Complete Poetical Works and Letters of John Keats (Cambridge edition, 1899) edited by Horace Elisha Scudder. It can be used to create a link to an online version of the work (contents) at the Internet Archive.

If a specific quotation template for a work exists (for example, {{RQ:Keats Lamia}}), use it instead of this template.

Parameters

The template takes the following parameters:

• |1=, |chapter=, |poem=, or |title= – mandatory in some cases: the name of the chapter, poem, or title quoted from. If quoting from a title indicated in the second column of the following table, give the parameter the value indicated in the first column:

• |act= and |scene= – if quoting from a play, use |act= to specify the act number in uppercase Roman numerals, and |scene= to specify the scene number in lowercase Roman numerals.
• |date= and |letter= – if quoting from one of the letters in the work, use |date= to specify the date of the letter in the format 31 October 1816 or October 31, 1816; |letter= to specify the letter number in Arabic numerals; and |1=, |chapter=, or |title= to specify the name of the letter (for example, |title=To {{w|Charles Cowden Clarke}}).
• |part= and/or |stanza= – if a title is divided into parts and/or stanzas, use these parameters to specify the part or stanza number quoted from in uppercase Roman numerals or Arabic numerals, following the numbering system used in the work.
• |2= or |page=, or |pages= – mandatory in some cases: the page number(s) quoted from. When quoting a range of pages, note the following:
  • Separate the first and last pages of the range with an en dash, like this: |pages=10–11.
  • You must also use |pageref= to specify the page number that the template should link to (usually the page on which the Wiktionary entry appears).

This parameter must be specified to have the template link to the online version of the work.

In some cases, if the page number is specified the template can determine the title quoted from. If the template is unable to do so, use |1=, |chapter=, |poem=, or |title= to specify the title.

• |column= or |columns= – the column number quoted from, either |column=1 or |column=2. If quoting from both columns, either omit this parameter or separate the column numbers with an en dash, like this: |columns=1–2.
• |line= or |lines= – the line number(s) quoted from. If quoting a range of numbers, separate the first and last numbers of the range with an en dash, like this: |lines=10–11.
• |3=, |text=, or |passage= – the passage to be quoted.
• |footer= – a comment on the passage quoted.
• |brackets= – use |brackets=on to surround a quotation with brackets. This indicates that the quotation either contains a mere mention of a term (for example, "some people find the word manoeuvre hard to spell") rather than an actual use of it (for example, "we need to manoeuvre carefully to avoid causing upset"), or does not provide an actual instance of a term but provides information about related terms.
